Brett Smith, President and CEO
Brett Smith has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. He is an Accountant by education who began his career at Peat, Marwick & Mitchell. He moved into banking and worked with several large banking companies. At the age of 28, he became one of the youngest bank CEO's in the State of Texas.

Since 1992, Mr. Smith's investments and acquisitions have centered on technology solutions for the financial services and electronic payments industry. In 2001, he acquired Futurex, and as part of his investment strategy he assembled a team of experts to introduce a new line of "best-in-class" products in encryption. His high energy and leadership turned a 20 year old company into an energetic, fast-paced, result-oriented, solution provider.

Today, he has devoted his efforts behind his vision to develop Futurex into one of the corporate leaders in the data security and electronic payments industry. Strategically, he expanded the business model of the company to include a first class support infrastructure for our business partners and Tier 1 Accounts with a targeted emphasis on enhancing their bottom-line.

Chris Hamlett, Director of Engineering - Key Management Group
Chris Hamlett has 15 years experience developing enterprise-class software for both the commercial market and the U.S. Government. He is focused on applying his expertise in software development practices to providing innovative solutions for issues facing the retail and financial services industries. He is currently involved with:

  • The architecture, design, and implementation of next-generation hardware security modules
  • Secure key management and its applications, using both symmetric and asymmetric techniques
  • Development of distributed software with a focus on strong security, reliability, and scalability
  • Representing Futurex on the ANSI X9F work group dealing with financial security

Since joining Futurex, Chris has recruited and trained a talented and well-educated team of engineers at the Futurex campus in Texas. His methodical and structured approach to engineering has allowed Futurex to catapult into one of the industry leaders in transaction security and become the gold standard for encryption, key injection, and key management technology.

Prior to joining Futurex, Mr. Hamlett worked for SecureLogix and Decision Science Applications where he contributed to products as diverse as voice over IP monitoring, trunking models for MCI, bandwidth allocation for the FCC, and satellite communication scheduling algorithms. He also led the development of the world's first distributed wardialer to help assess an enterprise's security profile in a scalable fashion, and was responsible for an authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) product in a telephony management application suite.

Mr. Hamlett has received B.S. and M.S. degrees with distinction in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia.

Jim Lambert, Director of Engineering - Host Security Products Group
Jim Lambert has over 16 years of experience developing software and integrated solutions for the retail and banking verticals. He is focused on applying his expertise in software and firmware development to continue to build quality, best-of-class products for the HSM, security, and compliance markets.

He has led multiple development efforts including the implementation of PCI-DSS and VISA CISP compliance and several major transaction processing initiatives including electronic check validation, Texas WIC smart-card integration, gift card mall implementation, and Health Savings Accounts signature debit card integration.

Since joining Futurex, Jim has built a team of outstanding developers and engineers committed to delivering quality products for the Host Security platforms. He is currently involved with:

  • The development of next-generation software and firmware to handle the increased demands of an increasingly security conscious world

  • Building processes and procedures to drive quality and adaptability of all Futurex HSM products

  • Reviewing and road-mapping strategies for continual improvement of existing products

  • Representing Futurex on the ANSI X9F6 work group for PIN security, key distribution and transaction data protection

Mr. Lambert has his B.S. in Computer Science degree with Honors from Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Al Bondanza, Director of Engineering Services
Al Bondanza has more than thirty years of experience in the wired and wireless communications industries. Starting at Stromberg Carlson, he was involved in the design and manufacturing of telecommunications equipment for both commercial and U.S. Government applications.

In 1990, Al went to work for the Microwave Communications (Farinon) division of Harris Corporation, as the Manager of Sustaining Engineering, where he was responsible for the ongoing manufacturing and customer support of existing designs, transitioning new designs into manufacturing, and the monitoring and improvement of manufacturing yields. He was also responsible for the system level specifications and testing of all products prior to customer shipments.

Mr. Bondanza has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and since joining Futurex has led the hardware design and manufacturing efforts for the company. He is implementing quality management practices to enhance our world class support for all of our customers and business partners.

Greg Stone, Director of Marketing and Global Product Strategy
Greg Stone has over 17 years of marketing, sales and systems engineering experience in hardware and software security products for enterprise information systems.

Since joining Futurex, Greg has been instrumental in the successful introduction of a new line of key management solutions to the financial and retail payments markets. His engineering and compliance background has ensured that the solutions he proposes are value-added, secure and compliant additions to our clients environments. His customer focused approach to sales has helped Futurex gain the trust of many new clients while keeping the trust of our existing clients.

Prior to Futurex, Mr. Stone worked for five years as a Business Development Manager and Sales Engineer for ACI Worldwide, where he was actively involved in providing trusted and reliable security solutions to financial institutions around the world. This experience builds upon ten prior years of experience in software development and systems compliance roles for Fortune 100 companies such as Pfizer Inc, United Technologies and General Dynamics.

Mr. Stone has M.S., A.B. and B.E. Degrees from the Thayer School of Engineering and Dartmouth College.
