Futurex Announces Support for EMV 4.2
BULVERDE, Texas — March 31, 2010 — Futurex, an innovative leader in data encryption security solutions, today announced the release of firmware supporting EMV 4.2, the newest version of the EMV credit and debit authentication specification. The additional EMV 4.2 commands have been implemented directly into Futurex’s Excrypt™ Universal Interface, which is included on all Futurex Hardware Security Modules.
The EMV (Europay, MasterCard, and VISA) standard is jointly maintained by American Express, JCB, MasterCard, and Visa and represents the global standard for security and transaction processing protocols for chip and PIN based cards and card-accepting devices. The specification was first published in 1996 and since then has been regularly updated.
The addition of EMV 4.2 support continues Futurex’s long-standing policy of adding early support for protocols that are, or likely will be, vital to organizations in the payments industry. The EMV 4.2 upgrade represents the latest addition to Futurex’s Hardware Security Module firmware, which can be obtained by requesting and installing the latest version from the Futurex Xceptional Support Team.
"Although widespread industry adoption of the added functionality in EMV 4.2 will likely not be seen for a number of years, we remain dedicated to being an industry-leading supporter of the most advanced emerging standards in the industry. Maintaining the security of our customers’ sensitive personal data is our number-one priority, and including the most up-to-date functionality in our products is just one way that we demonstrate this." said Chris Hamlett, Chief Technology Officer, Futurex.
