KLD7000 - Handheld Key Loader and Configuration Tool

The Key Loading Device (KLD) provides network managers an improved method for system configuration, parameter definition and the loading of cryptographic keys into Excrypt™ SSP’s.

The Excrypt™ KLD Smart Card key loading can be completely remote. The key officer loads the key component into the smart card, which can then be delivered to the data center by any convenient means. Functions are easily accessible through an intuitive graphical user interface.

Once at the data center, the key component can be transferred from the smart card via the Excrypt™ KLD7000 into the Host Security Processor. With smart card attachments, the Excrypt™ KLD is able to calculate encrypted keys. Excrypt™ smart cards are able to function as TRSMs and have the ability to compute the cryptograms outside of the Host Security Processor.

The MFK can be loaded by individually loading key components per ANSI requirements. The Excrypt™ KLD7000 generates the cryptogram based on the MFK and returns that cryptogram to the user. It is no longer necessary to perform these functions directly at the HSM in the computer center.
