Electrical and Systems Engineering Intern
Futurex is seeking a team-oriented individual to fill the position of Electrical and Systems Engineering Intern.
The ideal candidate will perform moderately complex work involving research and development, as well as production,
for Futurex's line of globally-recognized embedded, cross-platform data encryption solutions. The position will
involve assembling, testing, and troubleshooting of both production and test-level systems.
This position offers an opportunity for skilled individuals to expand their talents by participating directly
in a number of different phases of the hardware and firmware research, development, production, and support
processes. Individual visibility within the team is high, and opportunities for rapid advancement exist.
The qualified candidate must be willing to work under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of
initiative and independent judgment. The candidate will have general knowledge of the principles, practices,
and techniques of computer programming and systems analysis, of computer operations, procedures, and systems,
and of computer programming languages.
The qualified candidate should possess the ability to process information logically, to design systems based
on defined requirements, to prepare system specifications, to test and debug computer systems, to interpret
technical information relating to computer programming and other areas of data processing, to perform mathematical
calculations, and to communicate effectively. The position includes a generous compensation and incentive pay
package.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assemble, test, and troubleshoot prototypes and new hardware modules developed for our line of embedded cryptographic devices
- Design and verify that goals are met during development
- Document APIs and protocols used when interfacing with external systems
- Analyze performance of systems and take action to correct deficiencies based on consultation with users and approval of supervisor
- Confer with users to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs. Resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls
- Maintain programming documentation
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed
- Document system problems and resolutions for future reference
- Apply electrical and mechanical theory and knowledge to test, troubleshoot, and repair systems as required.

REQUIREMENTS
- Solid understanding of computer internals, code compiler processes, and TCP/IP networking
- Experience with multiple architectures and platforms, particularly PowerPC or ARM
- Technical degree path
- Familiarity with Linux
- Familiarity with semiconductor and IC architecture
- Familiarity with software in a major programming language (C/C++ preferred)
- Experience with cable assembly / soldering
- Motivated, self-starting, and eager to learn.

- 14-acre corporate campus located approximately 15 minutes north of San Antonio, Texas and 40 minutes south of Austin, Texas.
