VirtuCrypt Elements and DipJar: Cloud-Based P2PE Deployment
The VirtuCrypt team and I have recently had the opportunity to work with an innovative company—DipJar, the creator of the world’s first electronic tip jar and donation box of the same name. They developed a card reader designed for merchant locations (as well as unique environments like the Salvation Army’s red kettles) where tipping has historically been possible only with cash.
DipJar has changed the landscape and introduced an easy method of tipping – and completely removed the all-too-common barrier of “sorry, I would but I don’t carry cash!” As Chief Solutions Architect at VirtuCrypt, working with innovators like DipJar presents a fun creative challenge as we seek to design the perfect environment for their unique projects.
DipJar came to us in need of a means to secure its customers’ transactions at the point of capture using point-to-point encryption (P2PE)—not an unusual need, even if DipJar’s terminals are themselves very unique. Ultimately, we presented DipJar with a turnkey package using VirtuCrypt Elements for P2PE and access to our VirtuCrypt Intelligence Panel Dashboard for configuration and management. Meanwhile, our CTGA-accredited Solutions Architects manage DipJar’s cryptographic keys in accordance with appropriate regulatory procedures.
To learn more about the environment we developed for DipJar, we’ve just released a case study on the deployment, and you can request a download of it here.
