CPoC is a new compliance standard developed by the PCI Security Standards Council. It stands for “contactless payments on COTS,” where COTS refers to “commercial offthe-shelf” devices like smart phones and tablets. The CPoC standard allows merchants to conduct secure contactless payment transactions using mobile devices. Using CPoC solutions, merchants eliminate the need for card readers and better serve their customers by removing the need to accept payments at fixed locations.
