Futurex and Newland Payment Technology have launched a hosted remote key injection service for North American payment terminal deployments.

The service allows cryptographic keys to be injected remotely into supported payment terminals. This removes the need to route every terminal through a physical key injection facility before merchant delivery.
Payment providers can ship terminals directly to deployment locations. They can then activate those terminals securely and bring them into service sooner.
The remote key injection service supports processors, independent sales organizations, independent software vendors, merchants, distributors, and channel partners throughout the United States and Canada.

A payment terminal must receive cryptographic keys before it can process protected payment transactions.
Traditional key injection requires terminals to pass through a controlled facility before shipment to merchants. That extra stop adds transportation, inventory handling, scheduling, and field service requirements.
