October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month, and as part of that, Futurex has been named a NCSAM Data Privacy Champion. The National Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champion program is orchestrated by Stay Safe Online and the National Cyber Security Alliance. According to the NCSAM Champion web page: “Champions represent those dedicated to promoting a safer, more secure and more trusted internet.”
To give a little background on why NCSAM is necessary, the NCSAM Champion About page explains that the month “was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure every American has the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online.” The month was created by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the NCSA in 2004 and has been growing ever since. The 2019 theme is “A New Direction,” and is aimed towards promoting personal accountability for internet users to protect their data.
